Marketplace platform with customer, tradesperson and administration areas
CASE STUDY / 04ANONYMISED ASSIGNMENT
Services marketplace · Indian Ocean

Marketplace connecting households and tradespeople

A convincing mockup, but no product behind it: the entire state lived in a JSON document and the roles were simulated in the browser. The assignment was to build the real platform.

THE CONTEXT WE FOUND

Understand the system
before transforming it.

The design and the content had to be preserved, while creating the API, the relational database, the business rules, the accounts, the permissions and the operations required for a reliable launch.

WHAT WAS DONE

From diagnosis.
To production.

The scope describes the decisions and the work actually carried out, without naming the organisation involved.

01

Rebuild the product

Application front end, business API and relational database, containerised behind a reverse proxy with automatic certificates.

02

Enforce permissions server-side

Three real roles — customer, tradesperson, administration — checked on every request, with prior validation of tradesperson accounts.

03

Derive states from facts

The status of a job depends on the assignment and the completed steps: no call can force an inconsistent state.

04

Decouple the emails

Transactional messages handled by a queue and a separate service, so a page is never blocked by an email.

05

Lock down quality

159 server tests, 106 front-end tests, around thirty end-to-end scenarios and static analysis at the highest level.
